Land Awards open nominations
The 2022 Land Awards are open for nominations. Created by the Real Estate Foundation of B.C. to highlight sustainable land use, the five categories for the awards are land use and conservation, built environment, fresh water, food lands and real estate. The two individual awards are the Land Champion award and the Emerging Leader award. The deadline for nominations is Nov. 5, 2021. Nomination forms are available at www.landawards.com.
Construction starts at kihciy askiy site
The City of Edmonton, in partnership with the Indigenous Knowledge and Wisdom Centre (IKWC), hosted a ground blessing event at kihciy askiy, or “Sacred Earth” in Cree, to signify beginning construction at the site. As part of the ground blessing, city officials, Indigenous elders and representatives from IKWC, Reimagine Architects and Delnor Construction participated in a ceremony that included a drummer, gift giving, prayer and a sharing circle. Construction is estimated to take 18 to 24 months to complete.
Ritchie Bros. hosts Inside Edge panel
Ritchie Bros. is hosting its Inside Edge online construction panel on Sept. 30 to discuss OEM production delays, volumes and pricing, labour shortages, climate change and other topics. The panel will include Ritchie Bros. senior vice-president of pricing Doug Olive and Doug Rusch the managing director of sales, for Rouse Services.
