LA RONGE, SASK. — Shovels are in the ground for the newest long-term care facility to grace the province of Saskatchewan.
The three-storey, two-wing-per-floor La Ronge long-term care home will have 80 resident rooms, living areas, tub rooms, family rooms, healing space, a serenity room and a commercial kitchen when construction is complete.
The building will be owned and operated by the Saskatchewan Health Authority and the existing facility will remain in operation during construction, according to a news release.
Ledcor Construction Limited is building the project. Substantial completion is expected by late 2026.
“We are pleased to have reached this next important milestone for the La Ronge long-term care home,” Minister of Rural and Remote Health Everett Hindley said in the release.
“Residents across the north who need long-term care will soon have a safe and comfortable new space to live, close to home and family.”
