HomeSpace Society selected to develop two Calgary transitional housing sites

CALGARY, ALTA. – The City of Calgary has selected HomeSpace Society to develop transitional housing on two city-owned sites.

The housing is intended to support children at risk or experiencing homelessness as part of Calgary’s housing strategy, a release said.

HomeSpace Society is a registered charity with the mission to build, maintain, and manage affordable housing for vulnerable Calgarians, the release said, and the organization owns and runs a portfolio of 892 units of housing in over 34 properties throughout Calgary and serves over 1,300 residents.

In each of the properties HomeSpace partners with a social service agency to provide wraparound support for residents.

“Calgary needs more homes and this is just one of the many ways we are working to meet that need and implement the City’s housing strategy. HomeSpace Society has a strong track record of delivering housing for people in need and we’re delighted to partner with them on these sites to deliver this much needed housing. We look forward to seeing this project move quickly over the next year,” City of Calgary manager of housing solutions Tim Ward said.
