Cividia affordable housing complex in Edmonton completed

EDMONTON – An Edmonton affordable housing complex built in partnership between the City of Edmonton, Government of Canada and housing organization Cividia is now complete.

The project received $14.9 million in bilateral funding through the Affordable Housing Partnership Program (AHPP) to replace 48 units previously on the site with 72 affordable housing units and 48 mixed-income units for a total of 120 units. The development has a mix of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom units and is located close to Edmonton’s South Campus LRT station and transit centre in the Lendrum neighbourhood.

“This project is a meaningful step forward in addressing affordable housing in Edmonton. These 120 units offer more options to Edmontonians of different income levels right here in their community. By working with our partners, we can deliver affordable housing solutions that are customized to local community needs,” said Alberta Minister of Seniors, Community and Social Services Jason Nixon in a statement.

The total project budget was $46.38 million, with $14.9 million provided by the governments of Alberta and Canada ($7.45 million each), $3.9 from the City of Edmonton and $24.5 million provided by Civida, including land worth $3 million.
