Vancouver begins hospital zone upgrades
The City of Vancouver will begin construction on Feb 16. to improve safety and accessibility on 10th Ave. between Willow Street and Ash Street near Vancouver General Hospital. Crews will make changes to widen sidewalks, raise intersections and install an accessible traffic signal along with five new accessible parking spaces, enhanced wayfinding signs, better lighting and an improved passenger loading zone in front of the hospital’s eye care centre.
Yukon releases new guidelines for quartz mining projects
The Yukon government has released guidelines for improved water management at quartz mining projects. To get a license, quartz mining proponents must submit an adaptive management plan outlining how they will manage water onsite. This is the first time Yukon-specific guidance has been specified as necessary to an adaptive management plan, a provincial government news release stated.
Ballard Power, Chart Industries sign deal
British Columbia-based Ballard Power Systems yesterday announced it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Chart Industries, Inc. of Georgia for the joint development of integrated power systems including onboard liquid hydrogen storage, with a focus on applications including buses, trucks, rail and marine vessels. Chart is a manufacturer of engineered equipment for the industrial gas and clean energy industries.
