Alltrade, SkyFire rejoin to build new Alberta solar project
ALLTRADE/SKYFIRE — Alltrade/SkyFire, a joint venture partnership (ASJV), is once again embarking on building a utility scale renewable energy project in Alberta, the Brooks Solar II Project.

CALGARY — Alltrade/SkyFire, a joint venture partnership (ASJV), is once again embarking on building a utility scale renewable energy project in Alberta, the Brooks Solar II Project.

“Our team is excited to be working closely with Elemental Energy on this key utility scale solar project utilizing proven single axis tracking technology paired with bifacial solar modules,” said Kevin Ritzmann, Alltrade’s senior director for Western Canada, in a statement. “Construction is well underway and we look forward to providing another high-quality solar power plant which will provide renewable energy for decades to come.”

The joint venture recently completed a contract to build the Alberta Solar One (ABS1) project near Burdett, Alta. In a press release the companies stated after their experience on the project they were eager to work together again.

Elemental Energy selected ASJV as the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the Brooks Solar II project which is 32.8 MWp and spans over 160 acres of land. The project is expected to be fully operational, generating renewable power in early 2022.

“SkyFire Energy is proud to be part of the Brooks expansion solar project in the heartland of Alberta’s energy industry,” said David Kelly, CEO of SkyFire Energy. “As part of Alberta’s energy future, we are working to create new employment opportunities and training for future jobs.”

Alltrade/SkyFire was formed by Alltrade Industrial Contractors Inc. and SkyFire Energy Inc. to build solar and solar plus storage projects in Western Canada. The joint venture takes advantage of SkyFire’s local experience and workforce combined with Alltrade’s extensive utility-scale solar project experience. SkyFire has built over 50 MW of solar projects in Western and Northern Canada. Alltrade has constructed over 1 GW of solar, wind and battery energy storage projects across Canada.

The companies noted one of the reasons their partnership works is they have similar values. Both SkyFire and Alltrade are COR certified and have a safety-first culture. Alltrade stated its core purpose is building people, projects and communities. SkyFire is a registered B Corp that stated it places value in people, planet and profits.
