RS Technologies granted patents for composite poles

CALGARY, ALTA. — RS Technologies Inc. of Calgary has announced it has been granted patents for its composite modular pole construction and assembly systems in the United States and Brazil.

RS poles are assembled by stacking multiple dimensionally distinct tapered sections called “modules” one on top of another to form utility monopoles and multi-pole structures, used in distribution and transmission (up to 345kV) and communication applications, noted a statement issued Dec. 1. Its composite utility poles are used in place of wood, steel and concrete poles.

RS’s Method of Modular Pole Construction and Modular Pole Assembly previously had been granted patent status in Australia, Canada, China, Russia and several European and Middle Eastern countries including Sweden, the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Spain, noted the statement.

“We are pleased to have been granted these patents in the U.S.A, India and Brazil, which recognize the distinctive design of RS’s high performance, composite utility pole and strengthen the company’s intellectual property portfolio,” said Howard Elliott, president and CEO of RS, in the statement.
