Federal and B.C. governments invest in Surrey EV stations

The federal and British Columbia governments are investing in the Clean Surrey Electric Vehicle Charging Network in Surrey, B.C. The federal government will put in $274,054 through the Green Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada plan and the B.C. government will invest $228,356 through the CleanBC Communities fund. Approximately 40 dual-port electric vehicle charging stations at ten community centres, recreation centres and pools across Surrey.

 Tassi announces Industrial Relations Board appointments

Federal Minister of Labour Filomena Tassi yesterday announced the reappointments of three vice-chairs to the Canada Industrial Relations Board: Louise Fecteau, Paul Love and Lynne Poirier. Two employer members, Richard Brabander and Barbara Mittleman, and one employee member, Paul Moist, were also reappointed to the board. A third employer member, Elizabeth Cameron, was newly appointed.

Mixed numbers for asphalt shingles in November

Statistics Canada reported Jan. 15 that national shipments of asphalt shingles totalled 2.5 million metric bundles in November, down 32.8 per cent from the previous month and up 97.5 per cent from November 2019. Production of asphalt shingles totalled 3.0 million metric bundles in November, down 12.2 per cent from October and up 57.6 per cent from November 2019.
