On this edition of the TCR Express, digital media editor Warren Frey talks to Journal of Commerce staff writer Russell Hixson about some of the sessions he attended on March 23, the inaugural day of the Canadian Construction Association’s “Virtually Unstoppable” online conference.
Russell spoke about the opening keynote from General (Ret’d) Rick Hillier, who spoke to issues of leadership and logistics he encountered in the military and how those parallel situations the construction industry deals with at a management level. Russell also attended a session about government procurement that delved into efforts to streamline security clearance protocols and the growing role of social procurement.
Warren and Russell also discussed the contrast from previous in-person CCA events and the current virtual format, and in the next couple of days Russell will cover a session featuring CCA president Mary van Buren talking about the association’s political advocacy work.
