On this episode of the Construction Record Podcast, digital media editor Warren Frey speaks with Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) vice-president of construction and utility sectors John Somers about the future of heavy equipment.
Somers explained that artificial intelligence and sensors have allowed for more precise and efficient uses of heavy equipment, including the possibility in the near future of people working on job sites remotely, operating heavy equipment from home as connections speeds increase and latency decreases.
He also detailed some of AEM’s findings about the future of the construction industry in a recent white paper titled “The Future of Building.”
