On this episode of The Construction Record Podcast, digital media editor Warren Frey speaks with Dafna Kaplan, the CEO of Cassette, a construction technology company building modular homes that address both design and affordability.
Cassette’s one-bedroom apartment pods are built off-site and are stackable into multifamily developments of up to six storeys. Kaplan noted the design extends to the inside of the units with preconfigured connections that link together between pods.
Kaplan stressed one of the main reasons to create the pods was to address housing affordability, as major U.S. and Canadian cities face rising housing prices and out-migration as less people can afford to live in large urban centres.
