QUEBEC CITY – Ivanhoe Cambridge has announced a plan to spend $60 million on renovating the Laurier Quebec shopping centre in Quebec City.
The redevelopment of the mall is intended to improve rental spaces and the shopping environment, said a recent statement.
The mall has 11 million annual visitors.
A recent $18-million renovation of the mall’s food court has led to a sales increase of more than 14 per cent, the statement said.
“Laurier Quebec holds a dominant position in the region and we are very pleased to invest in its modernization,” said Claude Sirois, president, retail, Ivanhoe Cambridge.
“This initiative is part of Ivanhoe Cambridge’s strategy of investing in its shopping centres to maintain and strengthen their competitive positioning in their respective markets. ”
Improvements will include the property’s parkade, with brighter lighting and the installation of a parking management system featuring digital sensors to inform drivers of available spaces.
