HIGH PRAIRIE, ALTA. — Northern Lakes College (NLC) recently broke ground on a new consolidated facility within its central campus in High Prairie, Alta.
The facility will serve approximately 225 students in a new, purpose-built learning environment, bringing students currently spread across three separate campus locations together.
Designed by Manasc Isaac Architects, at 63,000 square feet, the building has been designed to provide easier access to student resource facilities and to include a cohesive college community space.
NLC announced the closure of the central campus in August in order to prepare for the demolition work ahead. Construction of the new building is set to start in spring 2019 and the facility is expected to be open in fall 2020.
The Government of Alberta is investing $21.6 million in the project, which is expected to create nearly 300 construction jobs.
