VANCOUVER – Infrastructure BC has released its Spring 2024 Major Infrastructure Projects Brochure which showcases public projects that are planned or underway with a value of more than $50 million each.

The projects range from the early planning to pre-procurement and active procurement stages, a release said.

“At a time when B.C.’s construction needs are great, the ability to access high-quality, transparent project information is key to helping general and trade contractors plan and understand the direction of the market both locally and across the province,” said British Columbia Construction Association president Chris Atchison in a statement.

“During this, the seventh annual Construction Month, we celebrate our industry’s rich legacy and vital contribution to B.C.’s economy. Together, we’ll work to build the infrastructure needed to support housing and our communities.”

The biggest projects in the planning but not yet approved category in the brochure include the Annacis Main No. 5 (North) Drinking Water Conveyance in Burnaby and New Westminster; the Surrey Langley Operations and Maintenance Centre for transit work; improvements to the Highway 1 Fraser Valley Corridor; and the Plant and Animal Health Centre in Abbotsford.

In the pre-procurement category the Roberts Bank Terminal 2 landmass and wharves and terminal infrastructure and operations projects top the list, along with the Iona Island WWTP secondary treatment upgrade ground improvements and the water and wastewater treatment plant.

The biggest projects in the active procurement category are the 264th to Mt. Lehman Road segment of the Highway 1 Fraser Valley Corridor improvements project, the Fraser River Tunnel, and the Burnaby Hospital Phase 2 and BC Cancer Centre project.

The Spring 2024 brochure includes projects from the Province of B.C., Metro Vancouver, BC Hydro, Capital Regional District, TransLink and Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, the release said.
