George Brown gets $1M from Concert Properties

TORONTO — Concert Properties Ltd., a Canadian real estate development and property management company, recently pledged a $1 million gift to support students in skilled trades at the Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies at George Brown College in Toronto.

The Concert Properties and Partners Award is created through the proceeds of Concert’s annual golf tournament attended by sector leaders both locally and nationally.

Brokered by the George Brown College Foundation, Concert Properties Ltd.’s gift is directed to scholarships at the Centre to support students who are registered full time in their first, second or third year of study, indicates a release.

The gift will enable 24 Concert Properties and Partners Awards to be presented annually.

Two thirds of the gift will go towards expendable awards, while a third of the gift will go towards an endowment fund, which will sustain trade-related student scholarships in perpetuity, adds the release.

“As the construction industry sets its eyes to the future, we recognize that we must pave the way to ensure the sector’s longevity,” said Brian McCauley, CEO of Concert Properties Limited, in a statement.

“Concert Properties Ltd.’s support of George Brown College’s Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies students is designed to assist students in meeting the increasing costs of study in our field. It is my hope that the sector will benefit in the future, from the talent we support today.”
