London’s EVE Park gets zoning approval
S2E TECHNOLOGIES — The EVE Park community planned for London, Ont. is being designed with a net-zero energy plan and to accommodate automated vehicles.

LONDON, ONT. — The proposed net-zero energy EVE Park residential project planned for west London, Ont. has passed a significant permitting hurdle, with Dec. 10 zoning approval from London city council followed by the expiry of the requisite appeal period as of Jan. 13.

The 80-unit project will integrate green energy technologies and has been designed with an autonomous vehicle future in mind, stated a Jan. 16 release. The community will develop an electric vehicle car-share program, and removes car garages from homes to allow for more pedestrian-friendly walkways and more outdoor space for uses such as open parks, gardens, small playgrounds and walking trails.

The developer is S2E Technologies and Dror Benshetrit and Gensler are the designers. EllisDon is the contractor.

Derek Satnik, vice-president of technology, smart communities for S2e, commented in the release, “We are really pleased that the zoning change had unanimous support from council. We know, of course, that the City of London is deeply committed to sustainability issues, and it’s one of the reasons that a project like this is a great fit here.”
