TORONTO — The Osgoode Professional Development program has announced details of its Public Procurement Law and Practice certificate program to be held in Toronto April 20 to 24.
Topics to be covered include compliance strategies for the new trade treaties, critical legal trends in public procurement, governing principles and common themes for proactive procurement, practical strategies to build winning conditions in purchasing operations, empowering the project management team, best practices for managing risk, enhancing flexibility and accelerating timeframes in the procurement process, and avoiding drafting pitfalls.
Other topics include creating documents that withstand the turbulence of the tendering process, critical benchmarks that should be assessed when reviewing procurement documentation, remedies and dispute resolution, and avoiding public purchasing paralysis.
The program is in its 11th year. The program director is Paul Emanuelli, general counsel and managing director with the Procurement Law Office.
A release from Osgoode states, “An outstanding faculty of legal and procurement professionals will give you the knowledge and practical skills you need to competently and confidently handle today’s most pressing procurement challenges.”
Program faculty include Michael Atlas, associate general counsel with the TTC; Heather Baker, senior procurement advisor with the Procurement Law Office; and Hartley Borst, vice-president, legal and compliance with Tidal Health Solutions.
The program will be held at the Osgoode Professional Development Centre, 1 Dundas St. W., 26th Floor, Toronto.
