BCCA receives first-ever Workforce Excellence Award

BCCA receives first-ever Workforce Excellence Award

VICTORIA — The British Columbia Construction Association (BCCA) has received the Canadian Construction Association’s (CCA) first-ever Workforce Excellence Award.

The award recognizes BBCA as a “champion of diversity and inclusion in the construction industry and the demonstrated results delivered by its workforce development programs,” a BCCA release stated, citing initiatives such as the Skilled Trades Employment Program, the Builders Code and Integrating Newcomers as examples.

“It’s good to be acknowledged for our dedication to workforce development, which has been a focus of BCCA for many years. There are thousands of people who wouldn’t be working successfully in our industry today without the support of BCCA programs and services. We share this achievement with the provincial and federal funders and all the collaborators who are helping us build a productive and resilient industry,” BCCA president Chris Atchison said in the statement.

“We appreciate that the CCA has created this important award category. There has never been a more important time for our industry to demonstrate its dedication to supporting diversity in the workforce, and BCCA is proud to be leading the charge.”

A video of the official announcement from CCA chair Jim Wrobel is available.
