Taiga Motors announces $185M plant for Shawinigan

Taiga Motors Inc. has announced plans to build a mass-production assembly facility in the Shawinigan, Que. Taiga is a developer of electric off-road vehicles. The first phase of construction, scheduled for completion in 2022, will permit acceleration of the production of Taiga electric snowmobiles, personal watercrafts and side-by-side vehicles. The new facilities are valued at $185 million.

 Yeoman honoured for H&S efforts

Alectra Utilities announced that Dave Yeoman, its director of health and safety, has been named Employee of the Year by the Barrie, Ont. Chamber of Commerce. Alectra serves over one million homes in 17 communities in Ontario. Yeoman was recognized for his health and safety efforts during the pandemic.

 Wright retires from OCS

The Ontario Construction Secretariat has announced the retirement of long-time events co-ordinator Jim Wright. He contributed to the Future Building program, trade shows, conferences and other OCS events.

SpeakEasy Cannabis on the move

SpeakEasy Cannabis Club Ltd. announced the completion of a 13,300-square-foot cannabis production facility in Rock Creek, B.C. It’s the first of three facilities expected to be completed in the second and third quarters this year resulting in a total of over 62,000 square feet of licensed indoor production and processing space.
