UPDATE: Crane operator safely lowered during high angle rescue

TORONTO — Toronto Fire is reporting that the rescue of a crane operator had to be carried out on March 31 at a construction site.

According to Toronto Fire’s Twitter account, the high angle rescue occurred at York University.

“When we arrived we found a patient in a crane operator’s compartment,” a Toronto Fire spokesperson said in an email to the Daily Commercial News. “The patient was ill and unable to come down on his own. He was located approximately 30 metres above ground level. Crews assessed the situation and secured the patient who was safely lowered to the ground. The patient was transported to hospital.”
