VIDA Living announces major Maritimes buy
Halifax-based VIDA Living announced today it has acquired a portfolio of 54 buildings and 1,058 multi-family units in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. VIDA is a privately held company active in the affordable rental housing market that launched in 2018 with one 12-unit building. The firm said it is aiming to own 10,000 units in Canada and abroad by 2027.
Many Canadians still fear COVID at workplace
A new survey of Canadians released this morning by Workplace Strategies for Mental Health finds that 46 per cent of Canadians working from home are anxious about the threat of the coronavirus if and when they return to the office. Ten per cent of respondents indicated they were concerned about striking a new work-life balance; and nine per cent said they were anxious about commuting to and from the office. Generally, younger Canadians aged 18 to 34 report anxiety about returning to work more readily – 33 per cent, compared to only 22 per cent of those 55 and older.
Two Sevens buys into Hamilton
Two Sevens Capital Group of Companies announced today that it has acquired a 20-unit multi-family low-rise building in Hamilton for its Ontario-focused mid-cap portfolio. “We are excited to expand our footprint in the City of Hamilton, bringing our total units under ownership to 130,” said Jon Olynick, the firm’s managing partner and head of real estate, in a release.
Feds to make Guelph housing announcement
The federal government has scheduled an announcement related to housing in Guelph this morning at 10 a.m. The project is in partnership with the Government of Ontario.
