Hyperloop moves into design review

California-based Hyperloop Transportation Technologies today unveiled the latest details of its HyperPort program, a high-speed cargo and freight transportation system. Developed in partnership with terminal operator Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG, the system will now go into certification design review. The system will be able move 2,800 containers a day in an enclosed, tube-style operating environment that eliminates at-grade crossings, with speeds approaching that of an airplane.

Seaspan invests $1.35M in Indigenous marine skills training

Seaspan Shipyards has announced a $1.35 million investment to increase training and apprenticeship opportunities for Indigenous students aged 19 through 30 looking for a career in the trades including the shipbuilding and marine sector. The three-year investment is being made in the Aboriginal Community Career Employment Services Society. More information is available here.

IPCO announces plant expansion

Farm and agricultural product firm IPCO announced it is expanding its Winnipeg-based plant. The expansion will include storage tank installation, melt rooms, high throughput packaging lines and increased warehouse capacity. Construction is scheduled to begin in this month and be fully operational for the 2021-2022 production season.
