On Aug. 31 the BC Prosecution Service announced that a stay of proceedings had been entered in the case against Peter Kiewit Sons ULC (Kiewit) and company managers Timothy Rule and Gerald Karjala.
The parties were charged with criminal negligence causing death after Samuel Fitzpatrick was struck and killed by a boulder in 2009 at a B.C. hydroelectric project.
While those close to the Fitzpatrick family have vowed to continue the fight, this development may be the final legal conclusion after more than a decade of delays and obstacles.
The Journal of Commerce has compiled a timeline of events to illustrate the progression of this case.
TERRIBLE!
