IoT PropTech Summit set for Nov. 18

The Toronto Construction Association has announced it is a partner in organizing the second annual IoT PropTech Summit, set to take place Nov. 18. Presentations will feature Rogers, PCL, Microsoft and Comcast among others.

 

Orix to survey lithium project sites

Megawatt Lithium and Battery Metals Corp. has announced it has contracted with Orix Geoscience of Toronto for an airborne drone survey at the Route 381 Lithium project at James Bay, Que. The project is comprised of 40 mineral claims covering 2,126 hectares located in James Bay Territory, north of Matagami. The Route 381 Lithium Property is located directly west of and adjacent to Stria Lithium Inc.’s Pontax-Lithium project.

 

Lumber production dropped in July

Statistics Canada reported today that lumber production by sawmills decreased 14.8 per cent from June to July and was 7.0 per cent lower than in July 2020. Sawmills shipped 4,177,000 cubic metres of lumber in July, down 12.6 per cent from June and down 9.7 per cent from July 2020.

 

Chamber praises throne speech

The Ontario Chamber of Commerce yesterday issued a statement praising the Ontario’s government’s continued focus on public health in the speech from the throne delivered earlier in the day. “We believe that prioritizing public health is our best long-term economic strategy and essential to protect Ontario’s most vulnerable,” the release stated. “We particularly appreciate the government’s commitment to no new tax hikes or spending cuts, which would only amplify the financial distress faced by households and businesses as we enter a period of economic recovery.”
