Facade work is underway on the mixed-use project at 19 Duncan St. in Toronto by Westbank Corporation and Allied Properties REIT.
The construction manager is EllisDon Corp. and the work includes some demolition of the heritage-designated Southam Press Building built in 1908 with renovations to add office space. A new mixed-use tower containing 10 storeys of office space will be occupied by Thomson Reuters with a 47-storey rental tower above containing 432 suites and four levels of underground parking. Amenities will include a health club, restaurant and retail. The project was designed by Hariri Pontarini Architects. Consultants are: ERA Architects Inc. (heritage); Jablonsky, Ast & Partners (structural); Reinbold Engineering Group (mechanical); and Nemetz & Associates Ltd. (electrical). Subtrades include: Rafat General Contracting; GFL; Verdi; Innocon Inc. (concrete); and Ontario Cutting and Coring.
