RESCON calls on feds to adjust requirements for Ukrainian refugees

RESCON calls on feds to adjust requirements for Ukrainian refugees

VAUGHAN, ONT. – The Residential Construction Council of Ontario (RESCON) is asking the Government of Canada to make it easier for Ukrainians to seek refuge in Canada.

RESCON applauds federal immigration officials for expediting existing applications from Ukrainians seeking to come to Canada either permanently or temporarily, however, entry requirements for Ukrainians need to be tweaked so they can enter Canada to visit without a visa, said RESCON in a release.

“RESCON is appalled at the unprovoked attacks in Ukraine and believes that Canada must do everything possible to help people from that country – many whom are women and children – seek refuge in Canada,” said RESCON president Richard Lyall in a statement.

“The situation in Ukraine is a humanitarian crisis in the making and Canada should step up to the plate and help refugees from that country who are fleeing in fear of their lives,” added Lyall. “Time is of the essence for innocent Ukrainian families as the Russian invasion continues. Canada must open its doors to those seeking safe harbour.”
