TURTLEFORD, SASK. — The Government of Canada has announced $1.9 million in funding for 17 active transportation projects throughout the province.
The funding will go towards such projects as Turtleford’s rehabilitation of 10 kilometres of trails and a new pedestrian bridge, states a news release.
Other projects will see the construction of new sidewalks, trails, bike parking and the development of active transportation plans for communities.
“Active transportation networks beautify communities while helping reduce our greenhouse gas emissions,” said Dominic LeBlanc, minister of intergovernmental affairs, infrastructure and communities, in the release.
“The Town of Turtleford’s active transportation improvements and the other projects announced today will make it easier for community members to keep active.”
