OSHAWA, ONT. — The City of Oshawa has initiated the Central Oshawa Major Transit Station Area (MTSA) Land Use and Area-specific Transportation Master Plan.
The city retained Parsons Inc. to do the study.
The integrated MTSA study area is centered on the future central Oshawa GO Station site located at 500 Howard St. The overall area is bounded by John Street and Eulalie Avenue to the north; Ritson Road South to the east; Highway 401 to the south; and the Oshawa Creek Valley to the west. The study area also includes certain lands east of Ritson Road South.
There are two key components to the integrated MTSA study:
- A master land use and urban design plan to advance appropriate development and intensification within the MTSA boundary, in accordance with the Ontario Planning Act; and
- An Area-specific Transportation Master Plan (TMP) to identify and recommend a preferred transportation option that accommodates future development. The TMP will follow the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process for master plans, in accordance with the Environmental Assessment Act.
The study team is hosting Public Information Centre Number 1 to introduce the study, provide the public an opportunity to comment on the background studies for existing conditions and outline next steps on Feb. 2 from 6 to 8:45 p.m.
The meeting will be held in-person at Oshawa City Hall and will also be streamed virtually.
