WHITE ROCK, B.C. — The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have laid seven charges in relation to a 2016 fire in White Rock, B.C.

All charges have been laid against 24-year-old James Adrian Dyer of Surrey, including a charge for arson, according to a news release.

Dyer is scheduled to appear before the court on Feb. 23 at the Surrey Provincial Courthouse.

“Our investigators have worked tirelessly to bring this investigation to the charge approval stage. It showcases the dedication and commitment our officers have to their work and to public safety,” said Const. Chantal Sears in the release.

The fire occurred on May 15, 2016, engulfing the 15200 block of Pacific Avenue in White Rock. It raged through an unoccupied under construction condo site and spread to residences and businesses that were occupied nearby.

The RCMP stated they will not provide further details or comment on the case while it is before the courts.
