TORONTO — The Carpenters’ Regional Council is mourning the loss of Mark Lewis, who passed away July 24.
Lewis was chief of staff and general counsel for the Carpenters’ Regional Council.
“Mark was a tireless leader and true advocate for the working class,” reads a statement from the council. “He fiercely believed in fairness and spent each day fighting on behalf of workers so that they could enjoy better lives.
“His professional accomplishments over the course of his career were significant, as both a lawyer and a former vice-chair of the Ontario Labour Relations Board. His ideas and activism have had an immeasurable impact on the labour landscape in Ontario and beyond, and will continue to improve countless lives long into the future.”
Mark is survived by his wife Ginny and two children Maddie and Morgan. The council extended condolences to his family and loved ones.
“Mark will be remembered for his many outstanding qualities, including his intellect, drive, sense of humour, and grace,” the statement says. “Perhaps the quality he’ll be remembered for most of all is his kindness, which knew no bounds and made him such a great mentor, colleague and friend. He was an exceptional human being and an irreplaceable light in the lives of all that knew him. He will be sorely missed.”
