PHOTO: Construction continues on London, Ontario Carpenters’ union training centre

Structural steel work is taking shape on the new United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 1946 Training Centre in London, Ontario.

Construction manager McKay-Cocker Construction Ltd. began the two-storey project in February and completion has been scheduled for November 2012. The 25,000-square-foot steel and wood frame building will have offices, classrooms, a training centre, a fitness area and several feature wood elements highlighting the quality craftsmanship of the Carpenters’ union members.

The project was designed by architects Tillmann Ruth Robinson and consultants are: Van Boxmeer & Stranges Engineering (structural) and Vanderwesten Rutherford Mantecon (mechanical/electrical). Subtrades include: Di Angelis Construction (excavation/formwork); Mirage Steel (structural steel); Curney Mechanical and Johnson Electric.
