TORONTO
Ontario plans to widen Highway 10 through Caledon Village this summer to improve safety and traffic flow.
The government awarded the $7.9-million construction contract to Aecon Construction and Materials Limited of Toronto.
The work is expected to be complete in 2009.
To minimize inconvenience to drivers, work will be completed in stages. During construction, two lanes of traffic will be maintained on Highway 10. Short-term lane restrictions may be required at times.
To protect fish habitat, construction work in or near Caledon Creek will only occur between July 1 and September 15. Tree plantings and landscaping along the creek will also take place to preserve the natural environment.
