Product Description, Applications
XYPEX CONCRETE WATERPROOFING BY CRYSTALLIZATION
Xypex is a unique chemical treatment for the waterproofing and protection of concrete. It is manufactured in the form of a dry powder compound, consisting of Portland cement, very fine treated silica sand and various active proprietary chemicals.
When mixed with water and applied as a cementitious coating, the active chemicals in Xypex cause a catalytic reaction that generates a non-soluble crystalline formation of dendritic fibres within the pores and capillary tracts of concrete. Therefore, the concrete becomes permanently sealed against the penetration of water or liquids from any direction, making Xypex suitable for waterproofing installations such as:
•Foundation walls
•Manholes
•Parking decks
•Reservoirs
•Sewage and water treatment tanks
•Tunnels; underground vaults
SURFACE APPLICATION
Xypex powder is mixed with water and applied as a slurry coat on clean, wet surfaces. The active ingredients migrate into the concrete through the process of chemical diffusion crystallizing within the pores of the structure.
DRY SHAKE APPLICATION
Dry Xypex powder is applied on fresh, horizontal concrete and incorporated into the surface during the finishing process.
Features, Advantages
•Becomes an integral part of the concrete; not just a surface coating.
•Seals hairline cracks up to 1/64" (0.4mm).
•Economical – No costly surface priming or leveling required prior to application.
•Cannot puncture, tear or come apart at the seams like coatings.
•Contains no solvents; emits no harmful vapours.
Properties, Performance
Xypex waterproofing treatment meets or exceeds the requirements fo the following:
•U.S. Army Corps of Engineers CRD-C-48-73, Permeability of Concrete
•ASTM C267 Standard Test Methods for Chemical Resistance of Mortars, Grouts, and Monolithic Surfacings and Polymer Concretes
•ASTM C672 Standard Test Method for Scaling Resistance of Concrete Surfaces Exposed to Deicing Chemicals
•U.S.A. Standard No. N69-1967 – Protective Coatings for the Nuclear Industry
•NSF 61
