UGE to build 11 solar plants in Ontario

New York City-based UGE International Ltd. has announced contracts to construct a total of 11 solar energy facilities representing 6.3 megawatts (MW) of power at sites in eastern and northern Ontario.

The contracts were signed through UGE’s subsidiary Endura Energy Project Corp. and the projects will be owned and operated by TREC Solarshare Co-operative, indicates a media statement issued May 2. The portfolio consists of two 600-kilowatt (kW) ground-mounted facilities near Kingston, eight 600-kW ground-mounted facilities in Timiskaming and one 300-kW rooftop facility in Earlton.

Completion of the work is expected to generate between $18 million and $20 million of revenue for UGE, with project funding starting this month and construction progressing into 2017.
