John Tory to speak at CCPPP conference

TORONTO—Toronto Mayor John Tory is the first of the keynote speakers to be announced as part of the 23rd Annual Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships (CCPPP) national conference.

Tory will join more than 1,200 senior public and private sector participants at the "world’s largest and most prestigious annual P3 event," which takes place Nov. 2 and 3, 2015 in Toronto, explains a release.

Tory is known for his strong voice when it comes to improving transportation and reducing commute times in Canada’s largest city. He has already stated his top priorities include tackling Toronto’s traffic congestion and transit crisis by building the Scarborough subway and beginning work on the SmartTrack, a surface subway line that would provide all day, two-way service across the city and bring relief to the congested Yonge subway, a release states.

"We are thrilled that Mayor Tory has agreed to join the conversation and share his bold vision for infrastructure renewal for the City of Toronto with this important audience," said Mark Romoff, president and CEO of the CCPPP in a statement.

"The CCPPP’s Annual Conference remains the premier forum for a wide range of decision makers and leaders in the P3 space to network and share their views on how P3s can help address the infrastructure deficit and drive economic competitiveness through innovative approaches to public service delivery."

This year’s theme for the conference is Ground Breaking Partnerships.
