This year The Journal of Commerce (JOC) and The Daily Commercial News (DCN) collected close to a dozen women in construction stories for our annual national Women in Construction features. As with every year, the JOC and DCN consider the collection and sharing of these stories important to the conversation of increasing the participation of women in construction, improving equality in the workplace and overcoming stereotypes.
We recently rolled out The Her Construction Story series which provided a sample of some of the stories we generated from our features– these particular stories covered a variety of the careers, contributions and successes women are achieving when they choose the construction industry as a career path. In the series we highlighted Kate Ulmer of Herold Engineering Limited, Julia Zahreddine of Bridgecon Construction , Chelsea French a co-chair of  Build TogetHER, Cara Grant of EllisDon and Marita Luk of the School of Construction and the Environment at the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
We thank everyone who made the time to provide their stories and insights for this year’s feature and we look forward to continuing to share these stories. If you missed our Women in Construction features, click here for the DCN one and here for the JOC one.
