TORONTO — The Heavy Construction Association of Toronto (HCAT) recently presented the SickKids Foundation with $250,000 to help build its new hospital in Toronto.
According to the SickKids Foundation website, the SickKids VS Limits fundraising campaign will be supporting three key elements: re-imagining the campus, including building a new patient care centre on University Avenue ($600 million); continuing breakthrough paediatric health research ($600 million); and establishing partnerships for better, coordinated patient care ($100 million).
The building fund just topped $1 billion on its way to the $1.3 billion goal.
HCAT challenges the other construction associations to help SickKids reach its target this Christmas, states a release issued by the association.
HCAT’s member and associate companies build the bridges, subway tunnels and stations as well as foundation and shoring systems in southern Ontario.
Members include Canada’s largest contractors as well as many mid and smaller size companies.
