OSWCA holds AGM today
The Ontario Sewer and Watermain Construction Association holds its annual general meeting today starting at 2:30 p.m. The virtual event kicks off with a 50th anniversary video. Todd Arnott will assume the role of president at the meeting.
LF Energy launches microgrid program
San Francisco-based Linux Foundation nonprofit LF Energy today announced the launch of Hyphae, a microgrid initiative to automate the business-to-business distribution of renewable energy, in conjunction with Sony Computer Science Laboratories Inc., a subsidiary of Sony Corporation. A statement said Hyphae aims to make microgrids more resilient by repurposing Sony CSL’s existing software, Autonomous Power Interchange System, which distributes locally produced renewable energy over a DC grid, to work with AC Grids.
Statistics Canada releases construction waste management data
Statistics Canada today released data on the diversion of materials from landfill from 2002 to 2016 at the national, provincial and territorial levels. The release is based on the results of the biennial Waste Management Industry Survey: Business and Government Sectors report of 2016. The data includes construction, renovation and demolition statistics for that period.
WeirFoulds launches OHSA compliance program
WeirFoulds LLP today launched a new Employer Compliance Audit Program to help Ontario employers remain in compliance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Employment Standards Act, 2000. The program is a resource for employers to identify legal and practical risks that may arise from possible non-compliance with applicable laws and regulations, as well as areas of opportunity to update employment policies, templates or procedures, stated a release.
