Aecon JV assigned work at Bruce plant
Aecon Group Inc. announced today that the Steam Generator Replacement Team, a 50/50 joint venture between Aecon and SGT, has been awarded a $350-million contract by Bruce Power to replace steam generators at Units 3 and 4 of the Bruce Nuclear Generating Station in Tiverton, Ont. SGT is a partnership between Framatome and United Engineers and Constructors. The work will include engineering and planning, removal of existing steam generators and installation of new ones, and construction management and procurement of materials.
UNEP to publish GUIDE on climate-resilient building
The United Nations Environment Programme will publish a new guide to climate-resilient buildings and communities tomorrow at 7 p.m. Tokyo time. A statement said the new publication, A Practical Guide to Climate-resilient Buildings and Communities, demonstrates how buildings and community spaces can be constructed to increase their resilience to climate change, especially in developing countries where structures are largely self-built.
Parc Jean-Drapeau welcomes upgrades
Montreal’s Parc Jean-Drapeau launched a new outdoor refreshment space in the La Guinguette section of the park on Saturday. The new public space was created in collaboration with the lighting specialist La Lutinerie. The new displays complement dining areas, recreational facilities and stages for outdoor shows.
PRO REIT buys light industrial buildings in Maritimes
PRO Real Estate Investment Trust has announced the completion of its previously announced acquisition of a 100-per-cent interest in five light industrial buildings in Atlantic Canada for $42.5 million. The purchase follows completion of its recent acquisition of a 100-per-cent interest in eight light industrial buildings in Winnipeg for $32.3 million. The five single-tenant light industrial properties are located in Halifax, St. John’s, Saint John, N.B. and Moncton, N.B. and represent 430,000 square feet of gross leasable area.
