Ontario announces hospital upgrades spend

The Ontario government announced yesterday it will spend $182.6 million this year on upgrades, repairs and maintenance in 133 hospitals and 63 community health service providers, including $50 million for COVID-related and other similar projects at hospitals such as upgrading HVAC systems and improving infection control measures. The funding comes through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund and the Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund.

 

OCS reports rise in construction employment

According to a release from the Ontario Construction Secretariat, Statistics Canada’s latest labour force data showed an additional 10,000 construction industry jobs in Ontario in August compared to July, an increase of 1.9 per cent. Employment in the construction industry in Ontario rose to 534,700 in August, the highest level since April.

 

Tresham, Cole named to Great Gulf board

The Great Gulf Group has announced the appointment of Bill Tresham and Stephen Cole to the company’s board. Tresham is the founder of RittenVest and previously served as the president of Ivanhoe Cambridge. Cole is currently the president of Seeonee and formerly president of Duff & Phelps Canada. Divisions within Great Gulf Group include Great Gulf Homes, Ashton Woods Homes, First Gulf and Tucker HiRise.

 

York secures new credit

York Group of Companies yesterday announced it has secured a new credit facility co-led by the Royal Bank of Canada and the National Bank of Canada with a syndicate of financial institutions including Toronto-Dominion and the Bank of Nova Scotia. York works in the environmental and infrastructure services sector in Ontario. The new funding will enable York to pursue a growth strategy, a statement said.
