Newfoundland Constabulary arrest fleeing suspect after construction break-in

ST. JOHN’S, N.L. — The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services (OPS) have made an arrest following a break and enter at a construction site in the Goulds district of St. John’s.

On Dec. 26 at about 10:50 a.m. RNC OPS were on scene in the area of Durdle Drive, Goulds following a request for assistance. While dealing with the matter an officer noted a black Honda Civic speeding toward police units in the residential area. The operator of the vehicle refused to stop for police, nearly striking a parked police unit. The operator then fled from police, driving east on Main Road, Goulds.

During this time the RNC received a report of a break and enter that had just occurred at a residential construction site in the Kieley Drive area of Goulds. The suspect vehicle in the incident was a black Honda Civic.

Members of RNC OPS located the suspect vehicle minutes later in the area of Fourth Pond Road, Goulds, and arrested the male driver, 37-year-old John Marsh.

The subsequent investigation led to the recovery of items stolen during the break and enter reported in the area of Kieley Drive.

Marsh has been charged with break and enter, dangerous operation of a vehicle and flight from police. He was held in custody to appear before a judge in Provincial Court.
