Feds, Quebec renew Canada Community-Building Fund deal

QUEBEC CITY — The governments of Canada and Quebec have announced they’ve signed an agreement for the Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF) for the 2024-2034 period, through which municipalities will receive funding for local infrastructure projects.

Under the agreement, Quebec will receive $2.8 billion in CCBF funding over the next five years, including $535 million for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, stated a release.

The Canada Community-Building Fund supports infrastructure projects across 19 different project categories, including drinking water, wastewater, public transit and community energy systems.

In Quebec, the Societe de financement des infrastructures locales administers the programs that will be funded.

“The conclusion of this agreement is excellent news for our municipalities and for all Quebecers,” stated Quebec Minister of Municipal Affairs Andree Laforest in the release. “I’m particularly pleased with the flexibility obtained, but also with the expansion of eligible investment categories, which will make it possible to develop new projects in sectors where needs are great.”
