Building Ontario Fund board of directors appoints inaugural CEO

TORONTO — Michael Fedchyshyn has been appointed the inaugural chief executive officer of the Building Ontario Fund board of directors, marking a significant step forward as the fund advances its mandate to invest in revenue-generating infrastructure projects across the province.

Effective Nov. 12, Fedchyshyn brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in strategic corporate development, infrastructure investing, structured finance and public-private contracting. He was previously interim CEO of Invest Ontario and prior to that he held senior leadership positions at Infrastructure Ontario where he led the creation of the Transit Oriented Communities program and other priority initiatives, states a release.

Prior to joining the public sector, Fedchyshyn’s career spanned private equity, renewable energy development, project finance and management consulting. He also holds a doctorate in neuroscience from the University of Toronto.

“Michael has an impressive track record of supporting infrastructure development and project finance in both the public and private sectors,” said Brian Porter, chair of the board, in a statement. “His expertise will be a tremendous asset as the Building Ontario Fund moves quickly to begin financing critical infrastructure across the province. Moreover, Michael’s commitment to fostering collaborative and inclusive teams will be instrumental in successfully moving the organization forward. On behalf of the Board, I want to welcome Michael to the team and look forward to working with him.”
