OTTAWA — Former EllisDon executive Tim Smith has been named to the board of directors of the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority.

At the same time, the federal government announced that Catherine Lavoie has been reappointed as chair of the board of directors of Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated.

The announcements were made Sept. 22.

Smith, currently president of MPa Project Consulting, was executive vice-president at EllisDon. The appointment notice stated that Smith “brings over 35 years of experience in commercial, institutional, residential, and industrial construction, delivering on a wide range of construction projects.”

“As the Gordie Howe International Bridge project enters the next key phase of construction, Mr. Smith’s extensive experience in delivering major infrastructure projects will be a major asset to the board,” said federal Minister of Infrastructure Dominic LeBlanc.

An engineer, Lavoie has more than 20 years of experience managing a number of associations in the concrete and asphalt industry.
