DCN-JOC spotlight: Construction and National Indigenous Peoples Day

DCN-JOC spotlight: Construction and National Indigenous Peoples Day

Taking place on the summer solstice (June 21), National Indigenous Peoples Day is an occasion to learn more about the diverse cultures, experiences and histories of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.

Across Canada, events will highlight heritage, history and remarkable achievements.

The Daily Commercial News and Journal of Commerce wanted to commemorate the day by showcasing some of the coverage we have embarked on in 2022. Our stories have focused on the challenges, progress and successes the construction industry has shown when it comes to Indigenous projects, people and policies and the remarkable accomplishments that impact the sector.

In addition to the collection of stories below, we will also be reporting on an event today that celebrates Pride and Indigenous History months with a conversation with Garett Cochrane and Chris Reeves, EllisDon’s director of Indigenous relations, that will expose the audience to the beauty and anguish of life in Northern Canada as a gay Metis man.
