Support Ontario Youth announces interim executive director

Support Ontario Youth announces interim executive director

TORONTO — Melanie Winter will be the interim executive director of the board of Support Ontario Youth (SOY).

Winter has over 20 years of experience in the industrial and manufacturing sector.

As the daughter of an automotive service technician and high-school transportation teacher, she had a unique insight into her role as the program director for the industrial and motive power trades, indicates a release.

In her position with SOY, Winter has made great strides in the effort to help more apprentices, employers, and industry partners with an emphasis on bringing stakeholders together to find creative solutions to alleviate the skilled trades shortage, adds the release.

“I am honoured to step into this new role and am excited to continue to work with a great team to build upon our successes to date,” said Winter in a statement. “I firmly believe that it is our responsibility to ensure that all Ontarians have access to quality training and employment opportunities, and I’m committed to doing just that.”

Winter replaces Stephen Sell who resigned at the end of May.
