NEW YORK CITY — The Architectural League of New York and Winnipeg-based 5468796 Architecture are hosting an open house and virtual studio on Feb. 4 featuring presentations on the firm’s current projects.
The event will include video footage of the studio’s projects and a discussion with Aaron Betsky, director of the School of Architecture and Design at Virginia Tech, on the topics of urban intervention, commitment to civic engagement and collaborations with local government.
Current projects of 5468796 Architecture include the Pumphouse, two mixed-use buildings connected through Winnipeg’s historic Pumping Station; Beacon, a commercial building in Calgary featuring three health clinics naturally lit through a multi-level lightwell; and 90 Alexander, a new seven-storey building surrounding one of the last remaining brick structures on Winnipeg’s Waterfront Drive.
