Malcolm Matheson, vice-president of Steed and Evans Limited in Kitchener-Waterloo, was recently elected as chairman of the Aggregate Producers’ Association of Ontario (APAO).

He is the association’s 49th chairman and succeeds Richard Seibel of The Murray Group Limited.

Matheson took over the position at the APAO’s annual general meeting in Ottawa.

He has served on the APAO board for the past seven years providing leadership to the industry on many issues. He is currently the chair of the Waterloo Wellington Brant Regional Aggregate Committee and co-chair of the APAO Public Perception Committee.

“I am very pleased to have this opportunity to work with the APAO on the many important issues currently facing our industry,” Matheson said. “We want to raise the bar on public awareness about sand, stone and gravel with the general public — we all depend on these products for quality of life.

“The advancement of our members raises the profile of the industry which helps shape our future.”

A graduate of the civil engineering program at Queen’s University, Matheson has 22 years experience in roadbuilding, estimating, aggregate and asphalt production and sales.

At Steed and Evans, he manages hot mix asphalt and aggregate production and sales as well as fleet operations for the company. He is also an owner of the business.
