RFP closed for Brockville General Hospital project

BROCKVILLE, ONT. — Four companies have submitted bids to build and finance the Brockville General Hospital redevelopment project.

Following a request for qualifications process that began in June 2015, prequalified bidders were invited to respond to the RFP issued in May 2017.

The RFP stage has now closed and EllisDon Corporation, M. Sullivan and Son Ltd., PCL Constructors Canada Inc. and Pomerleau Inc. have submitted bids.

Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Brockville General Hospital will now evaluate the proposals, select a preferred bidder and then negotiate a final contract, states a release.

The project will consolidate programs and services currently offered at the Hospital’s Garden and Charles Street sites on a single campus at the Charles Street site. The project involves a combination of new construction and renovations, including a new four-storey tower that will accommodate 29 mental health beds; 32 complex continuing care and palliative care beds; 32 inpatient rehabilitation and restorative care beds; and support services, adds the release.

At the completion of the project, the hospital will increase capacity by 22 beds.

A fairness monitor will oversee the entire procurement process. The successful bidder is expected to be announced in early 2018 and construction is scheduled to begin shortly thereafter.

IO and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care are working with Brockville General Hospital to redevelop the facility, which will be publicly owned, controlled and accountable.
