TORONTO — Eastern Construction has been awarded the contract for an addition and renovation to the University of Toronto Schools, an independent, not-for-profit school in downtown Toronto.
The project, located at 371 Bloor St. in Toronto, includes the restoration of heritage facades, interior renovation of the historical east wing, consisting of 58,000 square feet, and a new addition of approximately 63,000 square feet, indicates a release issued by Eastern.
Major design features include: a skylight atrium connecting the renovation and addition with amphitheatre seating; a 700-seat auditorium; Black Box Theatre/drama classroom; a library and learning commons; athletic spaces including a full-size gymnasium, changerooms and cardio room; a multipurpose room; specialized classrooms for music, art and science; and a media lab and creativity Maker Studios.
